The Reverend Chad-Joseph Sundin, OSBCn

serves as the Vicar-Chaplain of St. Augustine’s and Episcopal Campus Ministries at ASU. Fr. Chad is a Benedictine canon and the founder and Prior of the Community of St. Mary of the Annunciation, a religious community in the Diocese of Arizona. The contemplative nature of Benedictine spirituality, with its focus on prayer and hospitality, is infused into Chad’s ministries as Vicar and Chaplain. Chad shares a household with a spouse and three children, has lived in Tempe off and on for most of his life, and has been involved with Episcopal Campus Ministries at ASU and St. A’s since 2003. Prior Chad considers it a joy to walk alongside the many souls who call this parish community their own. Please do not hesitate to contact him at chadsundin[at]gmail[dot]com.

Staff

Julie Carson

serves our parish as Minister of Formation, and since Formation at St. A’s encompasses the whole of life, Julie has a role in almost every ministry at our church! Julie’s background in campus ministry and her experience of raising four brilliant, soulful daughters equips her beautifully for the work of shaping Christian formation in our multigenerational university parish. Julie is married to Monty, who also serves just about everywhere in our community. Contact Julie at julie.carson25[at]gmail[dot]com.

Stefan Dollak

serves as the parish Choirmaster and directs our Children’s Choir. A multi-instrumentalist and medieval and renaissance musical encyclopedia, Stefan curates ensembles and repertoires that, it’s safe to say, you won’t find anywhere else! Stefan directs the early music group Bartholomew Faire, is partnered with Heather, who sings for us almost every week, and is father of two.

Paul Heet

serves as our parish Sexton. If you happen by the church in the wee hours, you will likely find Paul hard at work keeping our grounds and facility clean and well-maintained!

Bishop’s Committee

Joaquin Rios

Perusing Desert Botanical Garden and camping on the Rim make Rob smile.

Alexandra Leonard

moved to Arizona in 2019 to restart her life in America after teaching English in Busan, South Korea for 9 years and has been a parishioner at St. A’s ever since.  Originally from a small town in Michigan, she misses leaves without spikes on them, but is enjoying learning about desert life, and spending time with her new parish family.  Alex currently works in healthcare administration and serves the Bishop’s Committee on the Stewardship Committee, overseeing St. A’s digital presence.

Denise Baker

moved to Arizona from Brazil in 2017 to pursue her PhD studies in Transportation Engineering. Since the summer of 2018, she has frequented St. Augustine’s and was confirmed in 2019.
